Switchplates

Maybe you have a great idea for a switchplate design of your own!

We can use an image that you provide to make a custom switchplate for you.

Photos of your children, pets, cars, collectibles --- almost anything that can be transferred to a CD will work.  Wouldn’t it be fun to have photos of your ancestors on a light switch! Or your favorite sports star or cheerleader would be great. The family beauty queen, the bride and groom, your vintage car, flowers in your garden, or that big fish you caught—the ideas are endless!

When choosing a picture or design for a switchplate, the most important thing to keep in mind is the placement of the switch and screws on the image.  Remember that you need to keep faces or other important parts of the picture positioned above, below, or to the side of where the switch openings must be cut.  If you need a single or double sized switchplate, a vertical ‘portrait’ sized picture is best.  For triple sized switchplates and larger, a horizontal ‘landscape’ image would be best.

You may send us your image either on a CD ROM or via email.  If using a CD we prefer a resolution of 600 to 1200 DPI, either in JPEG or TIFF format.  If sending via email we need at least a 300 to 600 DPI resolution using a JPEG format; this will prevent the finished picture from having that grainy look.  Remember --- the higher the resolution, the better the picture.

The cost of having custom switchplates made from photos is $15 per image in addition to the regular price of the switchplate.  If you need more than one switchplate made from the same image, you pay the $15 setup fee only once.  Custom switchplates cannot be returned or exchanged.

We can also make switchplates using your wall paper.  Customers often mail us remnants of their wall paper and we use it to make switchplates to match. Our switchplates are steel, a little oversized and have rounded corners.  This makes them a much better choice over using wallpaper on standard plastic switchplates.  When sending us wallpaper it is best to roll it and send rather than fold it.
